Foods that you should not eat, otherwise you will gain weight

We live in a world where food is almost everywhere. You can find it at a restaurant near you for as cheap as $5 a meal which includes a pack of French fries, a burger, and a Coke. The downside to this is that they are all unhealthy and on the long run, they will make you gain weight, get fat and develop multiple life-threatening diseases. In order to help you avoid them, here are some of the foods that you should not eat or avoid altogether in order to make sure that you do not get fat:

  1. French fries and potato chips

As you may have guessed, fried foods contain a lot more calories than food that has been boiled or cooked in the oven or on the grill. The oil adds lots of new calories to the potatoes and they make you gain weight at a faster pace than you would gain if you would eat other foods. Studies have shown that French Fries and potato chips make you fat at a faster pace than any other foods out there. However, if you boil or grill the potatoes, they are healthy and you can eat them whenever you want without worrying about becoming fat.

This should be a no-brainer because as everybody knows, sugary drinks contain a lot of sugar and sugar makes you fat. For a very long time, sugary drinks have been associated with gaining weight and they have a disastrous effect on your health. They are highly addictive, which is why giving them up is very difficult. Despite the fact that they contain a lot of calories, since they are not solid food, you will not feel full after drinking them. On the contrary, you will still feel hungry. Sugary drinks are sort of like the cherry on top of everything. If you give them up, which is not going to be easy, you will see a massive improvement in your overall health and you will not gain weight as fast as you used to.

  1. White Bread

Everybody knows that white bread is not good for your health, especially when you are trying to lose weight. On the contrary, studies have shown that people who eat only two slices of white bread per day are at a 40% higher risk of gaining weight. This is because many times, the companies that make white bread add sugar to it, on top of the gluten. This ends up affecting your blood sugar levels, which makes you gain a lot of weight. There are lots of alternative choices to white bread that you can choose to replace it with, much healthier alternatives though so you don’t have to give up bread altogether.


  1. Fruit juices

Fruit juices are supposed to be healthier versions of sugary ones, but they are in fact much worse than them. The companies that develop these juices use a lot of sugar and most of the time, they contain very little natural fruit juice in them. They use all sorts of additives and sugar which make you gain weight. The best advice you could get is to give up fruit juices altogether and replace them with whole fruit. It is much healthier and much tastier than the fruit juices.


  1. Cakes and cookies

The cakes and cookies you buy from the supermarket are actually very bad for your health and not just because of the amount of sugar they contain. They also contain trans fats and refined flour, ingredients which have been linked to weight gain and many diseases. At the same time, they contain a lot of calories, but they do not stop your hunger. On the contrary, you will end up feeling hungrier than before. You should avoid them as much as possible because they are not only harmful to your health, but they also make you gain weight.


All in all, you should avoid foods that contain a lot of sugar, refined flour or trans fats because these will make you gain weight and also predispose you to various other diseases. Switch these foods with healthier alternatives and you will not risk your health when eating!
